Describe the sigmoid colon and summarize its location, mesentery & blood supply

Teniae coli wider than elsewhere (meet at recto-sigmoid junction)
Between left iliac fossa & pelvic cavity

Lateral limb over the pelvic brim
Medial limb follow the hollow of the sacrum till S3
Apex of the inverted V is opposite the left sacroiliac joint on the bifurcation of common iliac artery crossed by ureter, IMV and IMA
