dosage form of a drug is a product designed for administration to the patient for the diagnosis or treatment of disease. dosage forms are a mixture of active drug components and nondrug components.
factors that determined the forms of a drug are:
1. the physical state of formulation, like affected by light or heat.
2. chemical stability of drug example, insulin cannot be given orally because that it is extensively metabolized in the git.
3. site of the disease.
4. taste and odor of drug.
5. different medical conditions. for example, persistent nausea and vomiting may make it difficult to use an oral dosage form.
6. patient desire.
