Lipid profile: is a pattern of lipids in the blood.
A lipid profile usually includes the levels of total cholesterol, High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and triglycerides.

Lipids transport
Lipids are carried in the bloodstream by complexes known as lipoproteins; this is because these lipids are not soluble in the plasma water.
Lipoproteins are spherical macromolecular complex of lipid and specific proteins (apolipoproteins and Apo proteins).
Lipids are travel in micelle-like complexes composed of phospholipids, cholesterol and protein on the outside with cholesteryl esters, and triglycerides on the inside.
The four main types of lipoproteins are chylomicrons, VLDL, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and HDL

• Function of lipoprotein:
1- To keep their component lipid soluble when they transport in the plasma.
2- To provide an efficient mechanism for transport their lipid content to/ and from tissue.
• Then these lipids are either: stored in adipose tissue or oxidized to give energy.
